Amazing spot in a very special part of the South Island. Had a great 2 days exploring the area including walking fishing hunting and having a whole lot of laughs with a great bunch of people! Accommodation location is out of this world and I can imagine the summer would be even better!

About your host, Susan
Kia ora - I am on the Waitutu Incorporation Committee of Management. We are a Māori organisation and as a Committee, manage the Waitutu Forest Lodge and Forest on behalf of its many shareholders.
The whenua (land) where the Lodge is built, is part of the 2,171 hectares that was given to Māori landowners as compensation land by the Crown back in 1906. At that time, they had their land taken from them and given to colonials coming to New Zealand. The Waitutu Forest is 2,171 hectares of virgin podocarp forest. We regard the whenua as a taonga and enjoy sharing this magnificient taonga with our guests.
